The Digital Salon of Allan Revich

Digital Prints

Photography serves as a creative tool that permits me to explore the graphic environment of the city. In these works, I have photographed slices of urban street life which have been altered through Fluxus interventions. The photgraphs are then edited on my computer. After printing using archival non-fading pigment-based inks, each print receives a second Fluxus intervention by means of a hand-applied "Fluxus Free Zone" label. The hand-applied label permits whoever displays the print to simultaneously declare that space to be a Fluxus Free Zone. All prints are then hand rubber-stamped on the face with my custom-designed certificate of originality. Printed in editions limited to only 5 impressions, paper size is 11 in. by 8.5 in. and the price includes postage to anywhere in North America. Very reasonably priced at only $75.

All artwork is printed on acid free, fine art quality paper using pigment-based, non-fading inks.

Fluxus Free Zone - Police
The application of a tiny label into public space helps force the issue of thinking critically about who has the right to display their messages in public spaces and how that right is either exercised or thwarted.

Fluxus Free Zone - Mastercard

The Fluxus Intervention Events serve to bring personal ideas into the public domain, while also questioning the rights of corporations versus the rights of individuals to bring messages into public spaces.

Fluxus Free Zone - Newsbox

Corporate interests have overrun public urban spaces with incessant and unavoidable demands to consume their products.

Fluxus Free Zone - Utilities

There is deliberate ambiguity over the nature of what constitutes a Fluxus Free Zone. Some may be Fluxus Free-Zones, e.g. an area which is suitable for Fluxus-friendly people and events. Others may be Fluxus-Free Zones, e.g. areas in which anything Fluxus would be alien.
